In Which Situations Should Rhinoplasty Be Performed?
Rhinoplasty is a solution for people who are dissatisfied with the shape, appearance or size of their nose, but it is also a preferred surgical intervention method to improve the nasal functions of people with injuries and deformations or to offer healthy solutions to people with respiratory problems. The general purpose of the intervention is to renew the functionality and appearance of the nose, taking into account the facial structure, skin type and texture.
In general, the most common rhinoplasty requests are the elimination of breathing difficulties and the resulting sleep disorders, reduction of the size of the nose, shortening the length of the nose, correction of the size and shape of the nostrils, correction of the arched nose, correction of the asymmetrical appearance, reshaping of the tip of the nose.
Rhinoplasty surgeries performed as a result of aesthetic demands are mostly due to personal preferences. There are people who have a disproportionate and generally accepted ugly nose and are satisfied with their appearance, as well as people who want to have a different appearance despite having a normal-looking nose. As a result, rhinoplasty surgeries are common operations performed due to physiological health problems or personal preferences.
Is There an Age Limit for Rhinoplasty?
In young adults and teenagers who have not yet completed their physiological development, growth continues and the appearance and function of the nose may change with the growth of the face. In addition, since rhinoplasty surgeries are mostly performed under general anesthesia, being exposed to this procedure at a young age is a great source of stress for both the child and the family. It is generally accepted that rhinoplasty surgeries should be performed after the age of 15-16 for girls and after the age of 17-18 for boys, except when deemed necessary by the doctor and in emergency cases.
What is the Recovery Time After Closed Rhinoplasty?
Rhinoplasty surgery is not a painful surgery. In recent years, especially with the improvement and development of operating room materials, the pain felt after surgery has been minimized. Nevertheless, the pain threshold varies according to the psychological and physiological state of each patient. In order to reduce the pain, it is necessary to rest in a semi-upright position for the first few days and to move without bending as much as possible.
Due to advances in technology and medical equipment, the need for tampons after surgery has decreased day by day. Silicone splints with air holes that allow the patient to breathe have been widely used.
During the application, blood leaking from the intervened bone and soft tissues around the bone collects in the under-eye pits. For this reason, bruising and swelling appear on the upper and lower eyelids after surgery. Bruising and swelling does not mean that the patient is in pain. Bruising and swelling are minimized after the use of modern surgical instruments (piezo surgery, tour, motor) and disappear after an average of one week. Another reason for bruising is that the patient's skin structure is prone to bruising. Especially in white-skinned people, postoperative bruising is seen a little more.
After discharge on the day of the operation or the next day, the silicone splints are removed after two to three days. At the end of this period, the head area can be showered without getting wet and only washing the body. Within a week, the splints placed on the nose are removed and the tapes are glued. Normal shower can be taken during this period. On the tenth day, the tapes are removed. In closed rhinoplasty; the stitches placed in the nose fall off spontaneously within 15-20 days. You can swim in the pool or sea 15 days after the operation. Then the control process to be carried out by the doctor begins.
There is no restriction in eating and drinking after the second day. After the bandages and splints are removed on the tenth day, normal daily life can be resumed and airplanes can be boarded. Do not go out in the sun as long as the bruising under the eyes or on the upper eyelids does not disappear, and if you have to go out, a hat must be used. However, glasses should not be worn for at least 2 months. This period may increase to 6 months depending on the situation.

In my first meeting with Mr. Elad, I trusted him immediately. He is both a warm-blooded, friendly doctor and explains everything in detail and honestly. I am in the 1st month of my surgery. I had a bruise-free, painless process. I also already love the shape of my nose :) If you want a natural nose that is compatible with your face, Mr. Elad is the right choice. His team and himself are very interested. They do not think that the surgery is over. I can recommend my doctor with peace of mind. I thank him and his team endlessly.
